‘Saudade’ is the complex and innovative new single from Florence-based artist Pearz. Its opening moments introduce us to cinematic piano chords that transport us into a classical world, before being abandoned in favour of modern beats. Quickly, these two worlds combine as pulsing rhythms connect with jazzy flute melodies and silky string interjections. As with his previous work, this track manages to find a home in a world that is equally influenced by jazz and classical as it is dance music and hip-hop. “The song started with a groovy rhythm and from there ends in a melodic harmony that opens up to old familiar feelings,” he says. “Get yourself into this journey of rhythm and soul.” Check out the video which shows Pearz wandering from piano to piano. -Dan Peeke
